5-year results of PECTUS-obs published in EuroIntervention

The PECTUS-obs study followed 438 myocardial infarction (MI) patients for 5 years, using OCT imaging to assess high-risk plaques in FFR-negative non-culprit lesions. The results show that patients with at least one high-risk plaque had higher risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (HR 1.87, 95% CI 1.11-3.14, p=0.017), including significantly more non-fatal heart attacks and unplanned revascularizations.

In a landmark analysis, the elevated risk was most pronounced in the first two years, with event rates running parallel between groups in years 3–5.

In a hotline session at EuroPCR, lead author Rick Volleberg presented the study, which was simultaneously published in EuroIntervention journal. EuroIntervention also interviewed Rick on-site at PCR — watch it here!
